When you join us for Cornwall caravan holidays, it’s likely you’re visiting to make the most of the great outdoors. After all, we’re surrounding by incredible countryside, beautiful scenery and unbeatable beaches!
However, with limited time away, it can sometimes be hard to decide exactly which activities to prioritise. Often, there are people in the group with different interests and abilities, but that certainly shouldn’t stop you from trying something new! There are activities for everyone to enjoy during your family holidays in Cornwall, whatever your experience or skill level.
From horse riding to surfing lessons, there’s something for everyone a stone’s throw from your accommodation at Tregoad Holiday Park. Here are our five favourite ways to stay active near the park…
Walking in Cardinham woods
Let’s start with the basics: walking! Cornwall is spoilt with incredible walks: for starters, you can head to the South West Coast Path for sea views or go inland to Bodmin Moor. You will discover a beautiful place to explore in whichever direction you head.
For something a bit different, we recommend guests who are here for family holidays in Cornwall to head to Cardinham Woods. There are well-established walking trails, three cycling trails, a play area, picnic area, toilets, café and even a forest school! Dogs are welcome and it’s a great place for the whole family to get out and active together.
Horse riding at Great Trethew Trekking
Whether you’re an experienced rider or total beginner, you’ll be welcome at Great Trethew Trekking which is just four miles from Tregoad. Join qualified instructors on a hack through their 30 acres of gardens and woodlands. Alternatively, why not opt for a lesson or join Saturday/Sunday pony club to learn how to ride and care for your pony?
Adults and children all love horse riding at Great Trethew and the experience adds something really special to any holidays in Cornwall.
Kayaking and paddleboarding
Being so close to the sea, it goes without saying that there are fantastic opportunities to take to the water during your Cornwall caravan holidays. For some people, that means simply dipping a toe in the waves during a day at the beach. However, if you fancy heading out a little farther, why not hire a kayak or paddleboard?
The shoreline near Tregoad is ideal for sedate water sports and at Millendreath Beach, just two miles from Tregoad, you can hire kayaks and paddleboards to serenely explore the coast. It offers a unique view of the land and is certainly an unusual way to stay active while you’re away.
Surf school
If you’re after a more adrenaline-filled watersport, Whitsand Bay is the place for you, just 17 miles from Tregoad. Apart from being a huge, beautiful beach, this spot is ideal for surfing, coasteering and paddleboarding.
Adventure Bay Surf School in Whitsand Bay have all the equipment you could need and have great instructors on hand for lessons. Book in as an individual or get everyone involved for a unique family day out!
Bicycling
Biking is a great way to explore the county at your own pace. Whether you head out for a day’s ride or decide to bike for your whole stay, there are fantastic bike hire shops close to Tregoad. Bike Smart Cycle Hire and Edge Cycles are both highly recommended for their equipment and expertise.
If you’re here for family holidays in Cornwall and decide to take to two wheels, a couple of top spots to check out are The Camel Trail and Lanhydrock cycle trails. You’re going to love breathing in the fresh Cornish air and the freedom of cycling during your visit!
