If you’re planning a seaside escape this year, you may find it nice to know that your beach days are backed by an internationally recognised standard of excellence.

For 2025, a collection of Dorset Blue Flag beaches have once again achieved the highest accolade for cleanliness, safety and environmental management, making them perfect for your next coastal holiday.

Better still? Every single one is within an hour’s drive of Waterside’s Dorset holiday parks, making beach-hopping beautifully easy during your stay.

What Is a Blue Flag Beach?

The Blue Flag is an international award managed by Keep Britain Tidy in the UK on behalf of the Foundation for Environmental Education.

It is only presented to well-managed beaches that meet strict criteria, including:

  • Water quality defined ‘excellent’ under the EU Bathing Water Directive
  • Safety and services, such as first aid and lifeguards where required
  • Environmental management, including litter and waste control
  • Environmental education, with information about local ecosystems

In short, choosing a Blue Flag beach in Dorset means choosing some of the cleanest, safest and most beautifully maintained coastline in the country to spend a day out.
