Waterside Raises Over £34,000 for Dorset Mind and Weldmar Hospicecare

At Waterside, we believe in giving back to the community that has supported us for so many years. In 2024, our parks, guests, owners and team members came together to raise an incredible total of £34,864 for two local charities close to our hearts: Dorset Mind and Weldmar Hospicecare.
Through a variety of fundraising events and activities across our four holiday parks in Dorset and Cornwall, we successfully raised £17,657 for Dorset Mind and £17,207 for Weldmar Hospicecare. These vital funds will go a long way in supporting the essential work these organisations do – providing mental health support and hospice care to those who need it most.
Bringing the Community Together for a Great Cause
From fun-filled evenings to endurance challenges, our fundraising efforts spanned a range of activities designed to bring people together while supporting two worthy causes. Some highlights included:
- Regular Bingo Evenings – Giving guests the chance to win prizes while contributing to our fundraising efforts
- 10-Hour Cycle Relay Competition – A friendly but fierce challenge between our teams at Bowleaze Cove Holiday Park & Spa and Chesil Beach Holiday Park
Our CEO, Dave Bennett, shared his pride in this achievement: “We are delighted to have worked with Dorset Mind and Weldmar Hospicecare throughout 2024. Their work makes a real difference to individuals and families across our region and it has been an honour to support them. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who participated in our events or donated. This achievement is a testament to the caring nature and community spirit of our guests, owners, team and supporters.”
Making a Real Impact
Fiona Hansford, Fundraising Lead at Weldmar Hospicecare, expressed her appreciation: “Following a difficult year of ever-increasing costs and funding cuts, everyone at Weldmar Hospicecare was delighted to hear how much Waterside Holiday Group had raised for us this year as one of their chosen charities. They absolutely smashed the target that they originally set themselves which is just incredible. THANK YOU to all involved, you have truly made a difference and your support means that we can continue to provide specialist end of life care for adults with a life limiting illness across Dorset, and support their loved ones.”
