In 2021 Waterside's got together to raise some money for a range of fantastic charities including Weldmar Hospicecare, Save the Children and CALM: Campaign Against Living Miserably. In total, our teams raised over £11,000 for such deserving charities!

Over the past year, we have held owner’s events, placed charity pots around our parks and held various fundraisers which all contributed to the fantastic amount raised.

On the 6th July, Tom, Owen, Scott, Pete, Victoria, Ryan, Samantha, Allen, Harry, Nicole, Becca, Laura & Phil from our Weymouth parks joined forces to take on a 24 mile hike from Golden Cap to Chesil Beach Holiday Park. 65,000 steps and 10.5 hours later, the team arrived at their final destination, having raised £5,336 for Weldmar Hospicecare (smashing their initial target of £3,000!). Weldmar is a charity so close to all of our hearts here at Waterside, the charity provides specialist end of life care and support for struggling families across Dorset.

More recently, in December, all of the team across Dorset and Cornwall took part in Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children! We wore our favourite Christmas jumpers, played festive games and enjoyed homemade sweet treats all in the name of charity. Save the Children strive to transform the future for children all around the world, helping them to learn, grow and become who they want to be.

Alongside this, our team helped fundraise for other fantastic charities, including CALM who stand together with everyone who’s struggling with life, no matter who they are, where they’re from or what they’re going through.

As well as this, our CEO and Retail Manager took part in the Looe Island swim for the Chestnut Appeal. Dave and Neil swam 1 mile from Looe Island to East Looe beach to raise money for a charity, dedicated to increasing awareness of male cancer.

Last but not least, Phil, Pete, Mike and Mark (AKA Team Waterside) attended the Vinyl Solutions second annual charity golf day in aid of Julia’s House. This event raised £2,200, helping Julia’s House to continue providing fundamental support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition throughout Dorset and Wiltshire.

But the fundraising doesn’t stop there…

Our teams are looking forward to coming together again in 2022 to continue raising money for these amazing charities. Our General Manager of Tregoad has already signed himself up to skydive in support of Cornwall Air Ambulance! Every year Cornwall Air Ambulance attends around 1000 Critical Care missions and since they rely on community groups, individuals and businesses to keep the charity flying high- every penny counts.

LaToya, is preparing to take part in the Weldmar Sahara Trek in November 2022. She will be trekking 50km across the Sahara Desert and sleeping under the stars with the Berbers and camels in near freezing night time conditions, all in aid of Weldmar Hospicecare.

Thank you for all of your support over the last year!
