Our Commitment to Sustainable Holidays

Sustainabilty at Waterside

At Waterside, sustainability isn’t just a pledge - it’s part of who we are. From the way we design and maintain our parks to how we support local suppliers and protect wildlife, we’re committed to creating holidays that care for the planet as much as our guests. Our sustainability journey is ongoing, and we’re proud to share the steps we’re taking today - and the ambitions we’re working towards for tomorrow.

Our Sustainability Pledge

Our Sustainability Pledge sets out our commitment to greener holidays - from cutting carbon with solar energy and EV charging, to boosting biodiversity with wildflower meadows and wildlife habitats, to recycling more and sending zero waste to landfill. It’s our promise to protect the coast, countryside, and communities we call home.

By the Numbers

Our sustainability journey is always making a difference. With nearly 1,000 solar panels powering our parks, EV charging points across Dorset and Cornwall, and innovative recycling schemes, we’re reducing emissions and protecting our coastlines. Every small action adds up to a big impact - helping us create greener holidays today and for the future.

Protecting Nature & Wildlife

Our parks are surrounded by some of the UK’s most stunning landscapes — and we’re committed to protecting and enhancing them. From planting wildflower meadows and installing insect hotels to building bird and bat boxes, we’re creating safe spaces where biodiversity can flourish. At Tregoad, we’ve reintroduced ducks and carp to the lakes, while new hibernaculums at Bowleaze provide shelter for native reptiles and amphibians. Guests will also notice bee colonies buzzing away across our parks, helping to keep ecosystems healthy.

Greener Holidays

Travel is at the heart of every holiday — and we’re making it easier for our guests and teams to choose greener options. Most of our parks now feature electric vehicle charging points, while on-site electric buggies reduce emissions during day-to-day park operations. Bowleaze, Chesil, and Tregoad are well connected by public transport routes, and many of our locations sit close to cycle and walking trails, giving guests the choice to leave the car behind. Whether you’re arriving in an EV or exploring on two wheels, we’re supporting cleaner, more sustainable travel.

Supporting Local Communities

We believe sustainability extends beyond the environment to the people and communities we’re part of. That’s why we actively support local suppliers, champion regional produce in our restaurants, and partner with councils and organisations on conservation projects. Our teams regularly take part in beach cleans along the Dorset coast, while in Cornwall, we’re proud to support the Looe Tourism Ambassador Scheme. Each year, we also raise thousands of pounds for local charities, reinforcing our role as a responsible and engaged part of the community.

Get Involved

Every small action makes a difference. Whether it’s recycling during your stay, reducing energy use, or exploring our nature trails responsibly, you’re helping us protect the landscapes we all love. Together, we can make every holiday a little greener.

Stories From Our Guests

The caravans were clean and the site well kept. The swimming pool was great and both my girls enjoyed it. The soft play and amusements were great too. The entertainment was decent. We have booked for their sister site, Bowleaze for next year, looking forward to that. I would recommend.
